The term VEDA means Knowledge and are considered the most sacred scriptures of Hinduism referred to as SRUTI. Vedas are eternal truths revealed by God to the great Ancient Rishis of India. These are direct intuitional revelations and are held to be entirely super human without any author in particular. Vedas form the bedrock of the universal religion or Sanathana Dharma that all Hindu follows.
The term UPANISHAD means sitting down near or sitting close to. They form the core of Indian Philosophy. They are the concluding portions of the Vedas. The teachings based on them is called Vedanta. They are an amazing collection of writings from original oral transmissions, which have been aptly described by Shri Aurobindo as the SUPREME WORK OF THE INDIAN MIND.
