[from Discourse II: "Sadhana Pada- On Spiritual Disciplines"]
II.31. JATI-DESA-KALA-SAMAYANAVACCHINNAH SARVABHAUMA MAHAVRATAM.
'These (abstentions) are not limited by social structure, location, time
or circumstances, and they constitute the great (universal) vow'.

Commentary:
These abstentions are universal, and are meant to be practiced at all
times, regardless of the situation. My inconvenience or pain that accrues
as result of their practice should be accepted as the result of karmic
obligation.
