The Trouble Tree

This was an interesting story I read a few months ago and I thought of sharing it with you all.

The carpenter I hired to help me restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour of work. His electric saw quit, and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence.

On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a tall… Continue

Knowledge

A giant ship engine failed. The ship's owners tried many experts, but none of them could figure how to fix it.

Then they brought an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a young.. He carried a large bag of tools with him, & when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully.

Two of the ship owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a… Continue

WATCH AND LISTEN CAREFULLY !!

WATCH AND LISTEN CAREFULLY!!

The man whispered, “God, speak to me” and

A meadowlark sang.

But the man did not hear.

So the man yelled “God, speak to me!”

And the thunder rolled across the sky.

But the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said, “God, let me see you.”

And a star shined brightly.

But the man did not notice.

Then the man… Continue

Pathan Doesn't Pay (Story)

One fine day, a bus driver went to the bus garage, started his bus, and drove off along the route. No problems for the first few stops - a few people got on, a few got off, and things went generally well.

At the next stop, however, a big hulk of a Pathan got on. Six feet four, built like a wrestler, arms hanging down to the ground. He glared at the conductor and said, "Pathan doesn't pay!" and sat down at the back.

Conductor didn't argue with Pathan, but he wasn't happy about… Continue

Why do we shout in Anger?

A saint asked his disciples, 'Why do we shout in anger? Why do people shout at each other when they are upset?'

Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, 'Because we lose our calm, we shout for that.'

'But, why to shout when the other person is just next to you?' asked the saint. 'Isn't it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you're angry?'

Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the saint.

Finally he… Continue

I HAVE LEARNED !!

I’VE LEARNED !

I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today,

life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

I’ve learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things:

a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents,

you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your… Continue

8 Lies of my Mother

This story begins when I was a child: I was born poor. Often we hadn't enough to eat. Whenever we had some food, Mother often gave me her portion of rice. While she was transferring her rice into my bowl, she would say "Eat this rice, daughter! I'm not hungry."

This was Mother's First Lie.

As I grew, Mother gave up her spare time to fish in a river near our house; she hoped that from the fish she caught, she could give me a little bit more nutritious food for my growth.… Continue

HAPPINESS by Swami Sivananda

"At the doors of large granaries are placed traps containing fried rice (Moori) to catch mice. The mice, attracted by the flavour of the fried rice, forgets the more solid pleasure of tasting the rice inside the granary, and fall into the trap. They are caught therein and killed. Just so is the case with the soul. It stands on the threshold of Divine bliss, which is like millions of the highest worldly pleasures solidified into one; but instead of striving for that bliss, it allows itself to… Continue

Lord Buddha And The Brahman..!

Lord Buddha was sitting under a banyan tree.

One day, a furious Brahman came to him and started abusing him.

The Brahman thought that Lord Buddha would reciprocate in the same manner, but to his utter surprise, there was not the slightest change in the expression on his face.

Now, the Brahman became more furious. He hurled more and more abuses at Buddha.

However, Lord Buddha was completely unmoved. Actually there was a look of… Continue

GOALS GET YOU GOING

GOALS GET YOU GOING

by Les Brown

Goals give you a purpose for taking life on. People who live without goals have no purpose, and it is obvious even in their body language. They are on permanent “Idle,” they slouch, they list from side to side. Their conversations dawdle. They telephone you: “Hey, I’m just calling. I wasn’t doing anything, so I thought I’d call you.” Well, don’t call me. I’ve got things to do.

Many people just muddle through life. They don’t read… Continue

WORDS TO LEARN BY

WORDS TO LEARN BY

by John C. Maxwell

In my years of studying leadership and evaluating leaders, I have stumbled across a leadership shortcoming that continually amazes me. Leaders will manage a team, work with the same individuals every day, yet they hardly know anything about their people! These leaders have never prioritized acquainting themselves with the dreams, thoughts, hopes, opinions and values of those they lead.

The best leaders are readers of people.… Continue

A story about living life happily!!!!! but a question at the end

Hello

Few days back I gotta read an article in newspaper which i would like to share with all my frens and group members.

How should you live? With the joy and exuberance. Joy should come not only from serving society but also from enjoying the best things in the life . Just live with them, enjoy them .You donot have to possess something to enjoy it.

Look at the butterfly. Its life span is too short , yet it enjoys itself thoroughly. It goes from flower to flower, the most… Continue

SAVOR THE LITTLE THINGS !!

SAVOR THE LITTLE THINGS !!

Do you eat while reading?

If so, you might have noticed the phenomenon I’ve noticed:

sometimes you can eat an entire meal without even really tasting the food.

This applies to lot of things in our lives;

we can spend an hour with our family without really talking to them.

We can go to a park or the beach, and not really notice the things around us.

Here’s a… Continue

GOD"s WIFE

GOD’S WIFE

A small, impoverished boy was standing barefoot on the New York City streets,

looking wistfully in the window of a shoe store.

A well-dressed woman saw him and asked him,

“Why are you looking so solemnly in this window?”

The small boy looked up at her and replied,

“I am asking God to please give me a pair of shoes.”

The woman took the boy’s small hand and led him into the shoe… Continue

SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP !!

SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP !

There is a story of a farmer who had an old mule.

One day the mule fell into the farmer’s empty, dry well.

As the mule cried for help, the farmer assessed the situation.

Although the mule had served the farmer faithfully for many years,

the farmer decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble.

So, he decided that instead of bothering to lift the heavy mule from… Continue
