Comment by Nana Trianasari on January 20, 2012 at 5:03am Dear Vinodji,
Thank you very much for your comment and your prayer. Having such a limited knowledge on this particular topic, I felt that I have learned alot from the discussion and the kind contributions of Arvindji.
May God grace shine on all of us...
Dear Nanaji,
I appreciate your appreciation! On this one topic, there could be so many angles and view-points that it is nice to share the thinking. It crystallizes the thinking and comes to a conclusion WITHOUT AN IOTA OF DOUBT. And this is the purpose of the discussion: "crystallization!
In Jainism there are volumes on the topic of " non-violence". We have covered the jist:" do not do to others what we do not want others to do to us."

I do appreciate the dialogue going on between two Members on this topic.
I do pray that this dialogue will bring conclusive thinking soon on the subject or else I fear it may result into more confusion for unenlightened members.
May God Bless !!

Dear Nanaji,
Due to impressions in our mind from the past, we may react to birds, snakes, animals etc. It does not matter. If we cultivate and practice love for all beings, in due time animals will not harm you just as they do not harm Yogies and instead play with them!
The key is cultivation and practice to accomplish anything in life!

Thank you for hte quotes and explanations... I love myself more for being a vegetarian.... I am not happy to eat our friends...However, to be able to stay calm in the presence of wild animals, I need tons of practice or even many many life times... To give you an example.... I normally wlak home when the sky starts to become dark... I smile when I see one or two birds still fly and sing finding a place to sleep...but when a frog touches my feet, I jump and scream so loudly that people stop and wonder...hehe...Knowing that all are friends, still deep in my mind I still have fear... Not to mean that I will kill or harm them when they appear, but I will make a crazy spontaneous move (e.g. run, jump, and scream)... Nevertheless, the good thing, I guess, is that I have the feeling of love...As normally, after I realised that I wasn't hurt by those animal, I smile at them wherever they might run or hide afterwards, and laugh at myself for being so panic...hehe....
Om shanti...
Vivekanand once said,"Know it for certain that the ideas we entertain about others ( people or animals) express themselves through our conduct; and even though we may not express these in words, people (or animals) react accordingly. We see in the external world the same image that we carry in our hearts: nobody realizes how true the saying ' The world is good when I am good' is."
That is why even violent animals do not harm yogies who cultivate non-violence and love in their hearts towards animals and all lives. They instead are found playing with them. So it is in our own interest that we should avoid killing and food by killing and also violent ideas towards animals.
Paramahansa Yoganandji said, " If you be unselfish and render unconditional service to the world, you would greatly develop magnetism." Vegetarian food and love for all lives will go a long way for you to develop a MAGNETIC personality.
