Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa says, " I am the machine and THOU art the operator".

If you analyse the events in life and come to a firm conclusion that the nature of life is such that every event is pre-ordained, then automatically the concept of DOERSHIP of yours and others will vanish and you too will confirm to the above statement. And automatically ego=doership will evoporate.

I read one book, " The greatest prophecies of the world." This perhaps is available on the railway stations. Once I went through the history of successful prophecies in all societies and at all the places in the world, I concluded that the DOERSHIP of man is an illusion and non-doership of man is a reality or truth. This truth has saved me from the misery of ego=doership. Now I know that every man is a puppet in the hands of destiny. So the blame game has stopped. Now I can always see the hidden hands of destiny in every single event. Now no regrets for the past and no worries for the future! Live in the present and enjoy this Lila of the destiny!

You may read the book, " Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda and find prophecies after prophecies of various yogies coming true and the truth of predestiny will erase of the conditioning of your mind of doership and ego will be automatically erased!

Thanks very much for your sharing.

One has to follow Guru who is the role model of a Shishya.

If Ego is arrested then the other Vikaras i.e. Kaam, Krodh etc. will just run away.

Guru gives Gyan. If one truthfully, obediently and honestly follows the results will be achieved positively to erase or arrest our ego.

I will now relate an interesting way my Sadguru erased HIS EGO. This I heard recenty from HIS old followers.

One of HIS followers was Excise Commissioner in Bombay. He was a VIP. Once he started following our Sadguru all his family members, nearest relatives and friends became followers of our Sadguru. One day our Sadguru told this person: Kailasa (his name) please wash the foots of all the 10 person standing near you and then dry it with Towel. Amongst this 10 persons was a man who worked under Kailasa (Excise Commisioner) in a very junior post. He trembled when his boss came to wash his legs and did not know what to say. He asked his boss not to wash his legs as he felt so embarassing. Kailasa said this to this man: When my Sadguru says do this I follow it blindly.

This is how Ego is erased.

I further learned that my Sadguru also did the same. He would wash the foot and legs of so many people to erase HIS EGO.

Off course what you have written is also right.

This is an excellent Question on the spiritual attainment.

Ego is the greatest Vikar or Enemy.

We need to understand What is Ego? How to overcome or erase Ego is a much later thing?

Ego is related to the sense of doership. So one has to go for the Wisdom or Gyan Marg. And, for this one has to read and understand Bhagwat Gita.

Lord Krishna explains in Holy Gita Who is God? Where is God? How God is every where? That is inside us in our nature and also outside in plants, trees, insects, animals, etc.

With our understanding Who Am I, Who is God, What is our Sat Karma, etc., we can surrender to God. When we go in for Sharnagati to our Lord or God or our Guru, it is then and then alone we can erase our ego.

In order to remove the ego , you need to completely eliminate desires and wants of the material pleasures , whether it is for coca cola, sex, movies, music, scents etc. all.

However it cannot be done immediately, it is a process. The following meditation teaches you precisely this :

You start with the gross sensations arising in your sense organs , then you train yourself not to give in to desires of each sense organs . Slowly patiently , in years , the desires will be removed and at the same time the spiritual world will start opening up to you . First it will frighten you , but if you are brave , you will conquer it and then you will find yourself merge into the transcendental state where ego ( I sense) will vanish.

In that state you will not be able to call yourself as I , rather you will become the whole (all of it) and then you are everywhere in everything and forever - eternity. This is nirvana. Then there will be no rebirth. You become the silent ruler of the universe - this is where Buddhas go.
